About The Unravel Room

Therapy with warmth, honesty and connection.

The Unravel Room was created to offer counselling that feels human - A place where you can bring the complicated, messy or difficult parts of life and know that you will be met with compassion, curiosity and without judgement.

Our Approach

Thoughtful, collaborative and professionally grounded

My approach is warm, relational and collaborative, while being grounded in professional and ethical practice. I offer a non-judgemental space where you can explore your experiences openly, make sense of what may be happening for you and work towards meaningful change at a pace that feels right for you.

As a BACP registered counsellor, my work is guided by the BACP Ethical Framework, with confidentiality, professional boundaries and your wellbeing at the heart of our work together.

Meet Sam

The person behind The Unravel Room

Hi, I’m Sam. I’m an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist with a specialist interest in psychodynamic therapy. I’ve worked in mental health for over a decade, across the NHS and charity sector, and supporting people through some of the most difficult, complicated and meaningful parts of their lives is something I continue to find incredibly rewarding.

Being an integrative practitioner means I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. I draw from different therapeutic approaches depending on you, what you bring and what you need from our work together.

I have a particular interest in psychodynamic therapy — exploring how earlier experiences, relationships and patterns may continue to influence how we think, feel and relate to ourselves and others today. Sometimes we can find ourselves repeating the same patterns or responding in ways we don’t fully understand. Therapy can give us the space to become curious about why.

My work is warm, relational and down-to-earth. You don’t need to arrive with everything neatly worked out, and I’m not there to tell you how to live your life. We’ll work together to understand what’s happening beneath the surface, untangle what feels difficult and help you find a way forward that feels right for you.

Common Questions

A few things you might be wondering.

How often will we meet?

Is counselling confidential?

What if I’m not sure I’m ready?

I usually recommend weekly 50-minute sessions, particularly when we first begin. We can discuss what feels appropriate for you during your initial assessment.

Yes. What you share in counselling is treated confidentially and in line with professional and ethical requirements. I’ll explain confidentiality, including its limits, before we begin working together.

You don’t need to be certain. The free 20-minute consultation gives us a chance to talk about what has brought you here, ask questions and see whether working together feels right for you.

You don’t have to know exactly where to begin.

Taking the first step should feel steady and transparent. Reach out today to schedule your no-obligation consultation call.
